Expect a lot for your money though. A personalised butler service, interconnecting king room, walk-in closet and en suite marble bathroom with a 32 inch flat screen LCD television are all de rigeur in the Ritz-Carlton Suite. Not to mention the unrivalled, panoramic, 117th-floor views across Victoria Harbour and the Island.

But despite the high price tag, according to hotel adviser The Kiwi Collection, Hong Kong luxury hotels are surprisingly undervalued compared with their Western peers.

"Over $12,000 a night might sound steep, but compared with Europe's most lavish hotel suites, it is relatively affordable," said Rene Vosslamber, Kiwi Collection Asia Expert at The Kiwi Collection.

He pointed to the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, where a night in the Royal Penthouse Suite, the largest hotel room in Europe, which will set you back around $70,000 at peak times.

Meanwhile the famous Ty Warner Suite at The Four Seasons, New York, costs around $35,000 on a nightly basis. 

The massive price difference could be partly down to the fact that luxury travel in Asia is still a relatively new concept for the emerging affluent, but wealth is growing so quickly in the region, said Vosslamber. There are 3.3 million millionaires in Asia, up nearly 10 per cent over the last year alone, according to the latest Merrill Lynch CapGemini World Wealth Report.

"A new breed of discerning luxury customers are coming to the fore in Asia, who want to see the world and indulge in the prestige of the best room at a top hotel," he said.

Kiwi Collection is a London, Vancouver and Sydney-based firm, with a curated collection of over 2,300 luxury hotels in 132 countries.

Here in descending order, WealthBriefingAsia ranks the most expensive hotel suites in Hong Kong, according to The Kiwi Collection.

The Ritz Carlton Presidential Suite

1.     The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong (Kiwi Collection rating: 87/100)

From $12,200 a night, the Presidential Suite at The Ritz Carlton is Hong Kong's most expensive hotel suite. The 365 square meter room offers unrivaled views of Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. Located across 102-118 of the iconic International Commerce Center, The Ritz-Carlton Suite has one master bedroom with an en suite marble bathroom. There is a spa bed and sauna room, a private study, a specious living and dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Number two on WealthBriefingAsia's list, the Presidential Suite at the InterContinental Hong Kong has is spread over 7,000 square feet and has five bedrooms, a separate living area, private study and kitchenette. An expansive wrap-around harbour view terrace of over 2500 square feet with a rooftop infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi overlooks Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. The dining room, master bedroom and bathroom and private gym also have panoramic harbour views.  InterContinental Hong Kong has a dramatic waterfront location on Kowloon and is famous for its Michelin starred restaurants, which include SPOON by Alain Ducasse and NOBU.
